We at The WATCHWORD would like to know what you think about the city of Columbia’s talks with AmerenUE concerning the proposed Callaway II nuclear plant. The current dialogue between Columbia and AmerenUE includes possible investment by the city or some sort of partnership or co-ownership. Of course, no arrangement can be made without the approval of the Columbia City Council. Check out the story on the Missourian website for more information.
With that in mind though, take our poll and feel free to express the reason(s) for your choice in the comment section below.

Columbia should not get involved with AmerenUE. A utility that is owned by a municipality is not economically efficient. The free market should prevail and cities should get out of the utilities business such as power production, water production, natural gas production, and garbage collection.
This is a nice alternative that is being developed in the U.K.
