Brief Biography: I came to MU in 2004 for the journalism school. I’m originally from Joliet, Ill., a city about 40 miles southwest of Chicago. I’m a senior this year and will graduate in May with a degree in News-editorial journalism and minors in Spanish and political science. I worked as a Public Life reporter for the Missourian during the Spring and Fall semesters of 2007. This semester, I am working as an assistant city editor for the Public Life beat and as a copy editor. In addition to working at the Missourian, I tutor student athletes through the MU Total Person Program and in the MU Writing Lab.
Hometown: Joliet, Ill.

Career Goals: I hope to report for a daily newspaper or weekly news magazine in a big city after I graduate. Eventually, I hope to land a job working as a city editor somewhere.
Why Journalism Interests Me: I’ve always been interested in the stories people — even strangers — have to tell. And I’ve always liked writing. Journalism challenges me to give individual stories larger meanings by placing them in the context of larger trends or issues. It’s an important public service, as newspapers let the public know what their government is up to, where their tax money is spent and what is happening in their communities, their country and the world.
Other Interests: I like reading, movies and spending time with my roommates. I absolutely love traveling. I lived in Pamplona, Spain, for six months earlier this year, and traveled to countries such as England, Morocco, France and Italy. I witnessed the ancient Running of the Bulls festival in Pamplona in July, and it was one of the most memorable moments of my life.
