MU students campaign, vote and score free pizza

From Paquin Tower, Holly and I walked over to campus to survey the student vote. We found a few tables and people on foot advocating for Obama, including Hickman student Cyrus Rautman, 16. Hickman H.S. serves as a polling place today, so students got the day off.  We searched high and low for a McCain table, but have yet to find one.  At the Life Sciences Center, a line snaked out the door and around the building, but moved quickly. Anna Erikson, a 21-year-old theater and English major, said she was casting her first ballot in a presidential election.  Many were drawn to the central polling location at Memorial Union for the free pizza, but there wasn’t a line for voting. The pizza was available to those who voted today or absentee. Laura Browne, 21, said the Arts and Sciences Student Council and alumni group ordered 125 pizzas at 10:30 a.m. By 10:50 a.m., the table was down to 50 pizzas. Kori Hetzel, of Kansas City, and Abby Wible, of Edwardsville, both 19, grabbed pizza in a break between classes and before they ventured over to Campus Lodge to vote.

Check back later for a video of the scenes around campus…
