GetAbout Columbia hearings coming up

The public is encouraged to attend the city’s public hearings for several GetAbout Columbia infrastructure projects on Monday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. according to a city press release. The hearings will be held in the Council Chambers of the Daniel Boone Building on the fourth floor.

The hearings are intended for various bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects. These include the $810,000 Greenbriar to Hinkson Creek Trail project, the $280,000 Bear Creek Trail connection and improvements to Python Court, and the $800,000 intersection improvements at Providence and Green Meadows and Providence and Business Loop 70.

The city will pay for these projects with funds from the $22 million Federal Highway Administration’s Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program. According to the release, the funds are designated for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects including generating awareness and providing opportunities for education and encouragement.
