How will you be a city activist this week?

Below is a few of the public meetings schedule for this coming week. What are you planning to attend?

Monday
• 10 a.m.: Rock Bridge TDD meeting in the fourth floor conference room at the Daniel Boone building, 701 E. Broadway. The Missourian last reported about the Rock Bridge TDD when it voted to add a half cent sales tax to the Rock Bridge Shopping Center.
• 5:45 p.m.: Pre-council meeting in the fourth floor conference room at the Daniel Boone building, 701 E. Broadway. According to the City Council’s agenda, the council will discuss land disturbance issues and board and commission appointments.
• 7 p.m.: Council meeting in the Council Chamber at the Daniel Boone building, 701 E. Broadway. According to the City Council’s agenda, the council will discuss the voluntary land annexation of several properties, the authorization of construction and and easements of Clark Lane from Route PP to St. Charles Road, and the Boone Hospital’s proposed roundabout. The Clark Lane construction is a continued issue from 2007, when the City Council approved a resolution stating the necessity of the construction.

Tuesday
• 6 p.m.: first session of the Neighborhood Leadership Program. Topics include an overview of our municipal government, Columbia’s history and demographic trends.

Wednesday
• 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.: Community Improvement District town hall meeting at the Tiger Hotel, 23 S. Eighth St., where Special Business District board members plan to disucuss the possibility of CIDs in The District.
• 7 p.m.: Bicycle & Pedestrian Commission meeting in the second floor Planning Department conference room at the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E. Broadway.

Thursday
• 7:30 a.m.: Community Improvement District Steering Committee meeting at the Tiger Hotel, 23 S. Eighth St.
• 7 p.m.: Planning & Zoning Commission meeting in the second floor Planning Department conference room at the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E. Broadway. The Commission will be discussing three cases regarding permanent city zoning.
• 7 p.m. Parks and Recreation Commission meeting at the ARC, 1701 W. Ash St.

  1. Hurrah!!! We so need a consolidated calendar in this town. If you are willing to host it, let’s find some sources who can feed you information among the neighborhoods, the civic organizations etc. (I spoke to this issue at last Thursday’s Boone Count Democratic Central Committee.)

    It was a specific request of more than one sub topic group at the Visioning Process to have a consolidated calendar.

    Would you be interested in hosting a coffee meeting where we put our heads together to do a thorough job together? I can suggest four or five people to invite . . . .

    Sounds great. I’d love to get as much information out there for public meetings. So any links or sources of other schedules would be amazing.
