Robison endorsed by Police Officers Association

Sixth Ward City Council candidate Rod Robison has been endorsed by the Columbia Police Officers Association.

Robison, who had donated his time working as a teleserve volunteer for the Columbia Police Department for eight years, has listed public safety as one of his top issues.

On his website, Robison lays out his thoughts on curbing crime:

To reduce violent crimes in Columbia, I propose a two-pronged approach: balancing enforcement and prevention. The Columbia Police Department should be supported at all levels in their efforts to reduce criminal activity. Arrests and subsequent convictions are deterrents to crime. However, I propose implementing a community-based approach to deter the growing demographic of violent criminals and gang members. As a community, Columbia needs to find interventions for at risk youth to keep them from becoming criminals.
