• City council hears caution on lean years (CDT) — City Manager Bill Watkins yesterday put the members of the Columbia City Council on notice that budget cuts are coming.

Leaders want to revise comprehensive plan (CDT) — Columbia has a reputation of being a relatively progressive locale, but city leaders said there’s at least one area where the municipality is falling behind its peers: comprehensive planning.

• Historic site gets a cleanup (CDT) — Hickman High School junior Cyrus Tague, 17, has been learning about ragtime pioneer and Columbia legend J.W. “Blind” Boone for the past six months as part of his Eagle Scout project, which culminated yesterday in a workout as he and about a dozen Scouts from Troop 706 scraped, shoveled, pounded, hammered and pitched debris from the dilapidated Boone home at 10 N. Fourth St.
