Bids Back on COLT Railroad Crossing

The bids have come back on a project that would build the COLT railroad crossing over U.S. 63.

The nine bids will now be reviewed by the City’s Purchasing Division and the Water and Light Department’s COLT staff, Water and Light spokeswoman Connie Kacprowicz said.

The bidding for the project was open from June 24 until July 1, and the original estimated cost for the project was $9 million. Kacprowicz said bids are coming in below that initial price.

Kacprowicz said she hopes to have a contractor announced by the end of the summer, and a start date for the project will be set once a contractor is chosen. The length of time the project will take to complete also will depend on the contractor.

The construction delays on U.S. 63 during the project will depend on the Missouri Department of Transportation, which has been involved in the process, Kacprowicz said.
