· UPDATE: Boone County fire district overpaid itself, audit says (CM)     The Boone County Fire Protection District overpaid itself about a half million dollars for responses to hurricane-hit areas and another $250,000 for other related expenses, according to a federal audit of the Fire District’s use of Federal Emergency Management Agency funding from 2002-2006.

· MHDC proposes ethics fix (CDT)     After two years of talk, the Missouri Housing Development Commission is moving to reform its ethics rules.

· Power-savings plans could grow (CDT)     As the summer months bring hot afternoons and more residents switch on air conditioners, Columbia’s electric utility said this is the perfect time to capture customer attention about ways to save residents and the city money on energy.
