Columbia’s Daily Dish (July 20, 2009)

· Downtown businesses have mixed feelings about Roots ‘N’ Blues (CM)     Sarah Cyr’s Wine Cellar and Bistro on Cherry Street is right where the action is during the Roots ‘N’ Blues ‘N’ BBQ Festival. But like many restaurant owners, she said the festival hurts her business.

· Changes made to review board ordinance in advance of council meeting (CM)     Since the plan for a Citizens Police Review Board was tabled at a special City Council meeting in June, city officials have been working to change the language of the review board ordinance to address concerns raised at the meeting. On Friday, they released the revised ordinance, which the council will discuss and possibly vote on Monday night.

· Council narrows P&Z applicants (CDT)     Five candidates for the Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission will be interviewed tomorrow as members of the Columbia City Council whittle down a list of 13 applicants.

· Parking garage project starts tomorrow, will affect traffic (CDT)     Traffic and parking will be restricted temporarily on parts of Fifth and Sixth streets downtown as crews build a new eight-story parking garage.
