Missouri Department of Natural Resources introduces online environmental emergency database

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources recently updated a database that shows reported environmental emergencies.

The new and improved Missouri Environmental Emergency Response Tracking System is now available on the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Web site.

An environmental emergency is an incident that can harm the environment, including human, animal and plant life.  Many of the emergencies in the database are related to chemical spills.

Final environmental emergency reports are entered into the database after a call is placed to Missouri’s 24-hour environmental hotline.

The Department of Natural Resources has been using the database since 1994, and the new online database includes reports dating back to the beginning of the system.
