Tests show lower levels of drinking water contaminant (CM) Levels of trihalomethanes in the city’s drinking water declined after chloramine was added to the treatment process, but other options to lower THM levels remain on the table.

Columbia City Council to interview Citizens Police Review Board applicants (CM) The council will choose eight people from a pool of 18 applicants, and a ninth applicant will be chosen by the Columbia Human Rights Commission. The session begins at 8 a.m. Saturday in the mezzanine conference room of the Daniel Boone City Building, 701 E. Broadway.

City to hold Neighborhood Leadership Program in January (CM) The Neighborhood Leadership Program will begin Jan. 19 and will meet every Tuesday night for eight weeks. The program encourages residents to participate in their community and become neighborhood leaders.

County Government Center to be renovated (CM) Money raised through a capital gains sales tax is funding renovations for the Roger B. Wilson County Government Center, which will see improvements to a currently unused third floor.
