Applications are being accepted for Columbia’s Vision Commission

The City Clerk’s office is accepting applications to fill two vacancies on Columbia’s Vision Commission. The commission helps monitor the city’s visioning process, conducts periodic reviews and issues an annual report on how development in Columbia is aligning with a vision created for it.

One applicant must be a qualified voter living within Columbia city limits; the other must be a resident of Boone County — not of Columbia. Terms expire Dec. 15, 2011, and Dec. 15, 2012, respectively. Candidates with experience with the visioning process, those who understand systematic relationships, work well with others and exhibit independence will be valued.

Candidates must be nominated (but can be self-nominated) by noon Wednesday, Dec. 2. To do so, call the City Clerk’s office at 874-7208 or send an e-mail to cityclerk@GoColumbiaMo.com. Applications must then be returned to the City Clerk’s Office, on the fourth floor of the Daniel Boone City Building, 701 E. Broadway, by noon Dec. 4. The city ordinance creating the Vision Commission may be viewed online at www.gocolumbiamo.com/Council/Commissions/Vision_Commission/index.php.
