John Gordon says goodbye to Boone County Fire Protection District

Long-time Boone County Fire Protection District Board member John Gordon attended his final meeting Monday.

Fellow board member Dave Griggs presented him with a plaque commemorating his dedication and commitment to the board.

“I’m not at a loss for words, I’m at a loss for the right words,” Gordon said after receiving the plaque. He had no trouble finding words after seeing the plaque Fire Chief Scott Olsen presented to him, however.

“Oh my God, yes,” Gordon said upon seeing the fire helmet attached to the plaque.

After Gordon left, new board member Keith Schnarre was sworn in and the meeting continued.

“It’s going to be kind of hard to replace John,” Schnarre said after being sworn in.

After the meeting, Schnarre said it went how he expected it to.

“It’s like all the other jobs I’ve been in as far as boards go,” he said.

During the meeting, the board approved the purchase of two thermal imaging cameras and elected officers for the 2010-2011 year. Griggs was voted chairman, John Sam Williamson treasurer, and Shelly Dometrorch secretary.
