Canoe For Clean Water to be held on Oct. 9

River racers will be speeding through the water on Oct. 9 to help make sure the water they drink is a little bit cleaner.
The Missouri River Communities Network is hosting river races and a festival at Katfish Katy’s in Huntsdale to raise money for the organization. Competitors will collect pledges to reach a minimum dollar amount to be included in the race.
According to the organization’s website, there will be two races (15- and 50-miles) and a festival with Henry Clay and Chump Change playing music. Additionally, anyone who participates in one of the races or bikes to the festival will receive a free drink.
The 15-mile race will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Franklin Island access in Boonville. The 50-mile race will begin at 8 a.m. at the Stump Island access in Glasgow. The first band, Henry Clay and the Hennessey Brothers, will start playing at 12:30 p.m. at Katfish Katy’s.
