Public Transportation Advisory Commission

The Public Transportation Advisory Commission met last night to deliberate on flaws in the Boone County public transit system.

Guest speaker Steve Tatlow revisited the Mid-Missouri Transit Pilot Project, an initiative to expand the public transportation system to rural areas of Boone County and connect Columbia to Jefferson City. The project has been in limbo in lieu of budgetary constraints, but members of the commission hope to allocate enough resources to continue with the project soon.

Director of Healthy Community Initiatives Sam Robinson also spoke at the commission, pitching an upcoming initiative, Unite for Healthy Neighborhoods, which will launch its campaign March 3. Check your Columbia Missourian for news and updates about the project as the campaign launch draws near.

Also, in unrelated news, the new black and gold color scheme for buses does not violate ADA standards as previously suspected.
