“City Green: The District” grant to improve energy conservation

The results of the energy use and greenhouse gas emissions among businesses in The District were released this afternoon. These businesses will have the opportunity to apply to a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Office (EPA) Climate Showcase Communities.

Barbara Buffaloe, manager of the Office of Sustainability, and Frank Cunningham, commercial energy services supervisor, explained the process that owners must follow to benefit from the grant.

“City Green: The District” will reimburse up to 50 percent of the cost of the changes the owners make to their businesses. The energy audit funding application explains that “Reimbursements for energy audits will be limited to $2,000. Reimbursements for the implementation of approved energy conservation measures will be capped at $12,5000.”

I am working on this topic. If you are interested, keep an eye on the Columbia Missourian and contact me if you care to contribute. My email is ccv2d@mail.missouri.edu.
