City council expansion once again in spotlight — Columbia Daily Tribune

A group of four residents, who are familiar with the city’s power structure, urged to discuss the expansion of of the Columbia  City Council.  They said they preferred to see more at-large representation who could focus on the issues affecting the the entire city. Mayor McDavid pointed out the expansion would lead to decline in efficiency of the council’s work and a growth in cost.

Occupy CoMo protesters have power cut — Columbia Daily Tribune

Occupy CoMo tried to attract a big crowd for music, food and discussion on Saturday, one of their largest events to stage to date. At the same time, the protestors had to rely on solar panel, batteries recharged during the day and power drawn from home for their activities. The exterior circuit of the city hall was cut off about a month ago, and the officials had different explanations.
