Romney carries half of Missouri delegates at stake by David A. Lieb, Associated Press

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney picked up 12 delegates, the most at Missouri’s congressional district conventions on Saturday. Only 24 of Missouri’s 52 total delegates were decided on Saturday, the rest to make their decision at the state party convention in June. With Rick Santorum, who had carried every Missouri county in February’s nonbinding election, picking up 7 delegates, the results illuminated a lack of unity plaguing the party in-state and nationwide.

Spending continues to rise in the fight against increasing poverty in Boone County, but many social institutions feel the funding only alleviates the problem and fails to attack it at its roots: childhood. Obama hopes to woo young voters with student loan focus by Jim Kuhnhenn, Associated Press

President Obama looks to extend a law that provides lower interest rates on student loans for low-to-moderate-income college students. If the law expires on July 1, the rates for these undergraduates will double nationwide.
