Webber trumps all candidates in online fundraising

Well, it’s a little late, but Rosenbaum didn’t post anything about it, (Probably because it’s irrelevant compared to total fundraising, but those numbers won’t be released to further into July) so here’s the scoop.

Stephen Webber, a candidate for the 23rd District House seat, has raised more money through the online fundraising clearinghouse ActBlue than any other state representative candidate in Missouri. As of Thursday night, Webber’s 101 online donations have netted a total of $8,970, far surpassing his opponent, Cande Iveson’s 32 donations totaling $1,310.

It is telling that Webber’s campaign has raised more through the site than any other candidate in Missouri (although he is tailed closely by Jason Kander in the 44th district and Chris kelly in the 24th district), as was his hog roast fundraiser Monday night.

I got there 10 minutes after the doors opened (after getting an e-mail at 1:30 the night before) and had to double-park and leave a note. They were already out of parking at the Eagle’s Club by the time I walked in, and campaign workers had to flag the continuing stream of cars into a parking lot across the street.

The event, where Webber received an endorsement from former Missouri Governor Roger Wilson, was attended by over 325 people, according to a press release from the campaign. But it was packed, and truly telling (as are the Webber signs all over Columbia) of the momentum of Webber’s campaign.
