Onder, Luetkemeyer spar over immigration stance

State Rep. Bob Onder, R-Lake St. Louis, has been criticizing one of his opponents in the race for the Ninth District Republican nomination, saying former Missouri tourism director Blaine Luetkemeyer supports amnesty through allowing illegal immigrants to participate in guest worker programs.

Luetkemeyer said he has from the beginning said he opposes amnesty, and calls these attacks by Onder political ploy and the kind of negative campaigning Luetkemeyer has stood against. He added that this kind of advertising distracts voters from the real issues. Continue reading

Public Invited to Visioning Workshop

You’re invited to a Visioning Implementation Open House from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Activity and Recreation Center, 1701 W. Ash Street.

The open house will include two presentations each on the Vision Management and Oversight Entity and the Initial Visioning Implementation Plan. Presentations on the oversight entity will be made from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. and from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. Presentations on the implementation plan will be made from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. and from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m.

The overall intent of the workshop is to update residents on the visioning process and to invite ongoing particulation. There will also be opportunities for the public to ask questions between presentations and to provide feedback during and after the event. The public will also be invited to complete an online evaluation survey.
